Clock out a little earlier than normal today and distract yourself by building your own 2015 Chevrolet Colorado mid-size pickup, which starts at just under $21,000. But option it out, and quickly, you’ve got yourself a truck in the $40,000’s. Oh, and look, the GearOn cargo management solution — which we mentioned was coming a while ago — is mentioned several times when accessorizing the 2015 Colorado’s truck bed. See what else you notice by configuring your own 2015 Colorado here.

Just shy of $38,000. No sun/moon roof option seems (a little) odd. I logged on to live chat. Thought maybe I had just missed it. Nope. Will not be offered. Looking forward to the automotive press getting their hands on one to drive. They’ll get their turn early on. Before us commoners. :~))
Overpricing will kill this truck faster than it arrived. Way to go GM.
Overpriced compared to…what? Similarly equipped Silverado? Tacomas with similar features? Perhaps there is some cheaper alternative that have the same/similar features, but I don’t see it, though I may have missed something.
Trucks are very expensive these days. That’s the way it is.
There was a LOT of complaining that the big SUVs (Escalade, Suburban, etc) were overpriced when they came out. Now they can’t build those $60k+ behemoths fast enough.
The Nissan Frontier comes to mind. Similarly priced models undercut the Colorado by a few thousand.
I came up with $31495. For an LT v6 rear wheel drive. This will go on sale at the time that 2014 SILVERADO will have deep discounts End of the model year. 31 large will buy a lot more SILVERADO than coloardo. History repeats it self.
I just built and optioned a Colorado and a Silverado. Identical packages. Towing hook up, z/71, 2wd short box, my link with each. Colorado $32,050 Silverado $39,230. Please explain how the Colorado is a bad idea??? People who do not need V8 trucks will love this truck. Also mind I did z71. . . Most will not. The Colorado is less money slightly better economy and smaller. I’d say its winning all around!
So no leather? $40,770 how I optioned it.. Silverado double cab with 4.3L is about that.. with leather.
Not bad. But the 2.5L I4 is only on the extended cab?
For someone that doesn’t need to tow but want’s the space of a crew cab and FE of the I4 I wish it was an option.
I optioned LT crew 2WD with rear locking diff and leather at $33K
Well we have to consider things here about this truck.
This truck is targeted at buyers who are like me that were in the truck market and got out because the last Colorado was crap and we just do not want or need a full size truck regardless of the price.
Also there are a lot of Ranger buyers who’s trucks are about roached out and need a smaller replacement.
Finally this truck is a piece of a puzzle we have not fully seen yet as we will see changed come to the full size in price and offerings that will make this a option for many in the half ton market now.
Lets face this truck and the half ton never sell at sticker do you can factor that in here. Also the full size truck is nearly $10K more than this one now and when it goes Aluminum it will go higher yet.
In the future the MFG will limit the V8 and larger vehicles by price. This way they can offer them but to buy them you will have to pay a lot more. This is their way go keep in the market sell less of them and still keep profits up while moving more people to higher CAFE models.
As a lifelong fan of Chevrolet, this is where I have a problem with the way GM markets its products. As I have seen from many commenters, as well as checking for myself, there are options that should be available at release time that just aren’t, and some options are available, but are packaged with others I don’t need. No blue color, pay a premium for a Z71 only to end up with leatherette (aka vinyl) cloth combo seats, Pay a premium for green, no sunroof, no manual with the V6, no I4 with the crew cab, no regular cab. Come on GM vinyl, that is not top shelf or worth any kind of premium, and neither is any green color. A lot of us are interested in this truck, but we have been reading what is coming next year in the way of the diesel and 8 speed auto and we are willing to wait. Why is it always next year with you GM? Instead of making us wait for all options to be available from the outset, why not just release the truck with all the options? As a consumer, I believe more people would be drawn in if all the cards were on the table.
I like the Colorado and it will suit all my truck purposes more than adequately. However, when I contemplate plunking down 35K+ on a mid-size, I will not compromise on those things that are missing from the line-up that won’t be available until 2016. At least then maybe there will be more to compare and determine what best suit my needs.
You’re right. GM is shooting itself in the foot and doesn’t seem to understand the customer. Once the 8 speed becomes standard on the half tons and they eclipse the mid sizers in mpgs there will no reason whatsoever to buy the small ones.
On the other hand, there are obviously enough fools who spend $25k on a Cruze so why not pay $40k for a tiny truck? A sign of the times.
God I hope they have the 8 speed auto in place when the diesel comes out, that would probably break the 30 mpg mark. Knowing how GM does things though it probably wont be an option. My bet is the 8 speed will be available on the gasers, but for some dumb reason the diesel will get stuck with the old 6 speed.
The lack of a leather option on the Z71 is the single stupidest packaging mistake Chevy could make with this truck that otherwise looks like an awesome vehicle. Not gonna buy an LT and not gonna buy one at all if I can’t get leather in Z71. The lack of a blue color option comes a close second, but I could live with that.
