Soon GMC and Chevrolet dealers will have better answers for customers who want a pickup truck that’s smaller than the mammoth Sierra and Silverado half-ton pickup trucks. Roughly 28,000 dealer orders have been placed for the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado, while another 14,000 orders have tallied for the 2015 GMC Canyon. Yes, Mr. Utilitarian-Who-Also-Goes-Hiking-Up-North-Sometimes, there is a truck for you.
Both the 2015 Colorado and 2015 Canyon have began production this week and arrive in showrooms this fall. When that happens, Chevrolet and GMC will soon be the only brands offering mid-size pickups, as well as light- and heavy-duty full-size pickups.
I want to see a Denali trim for the Canyon. Really target that light duty, premium market with a vehicle in a class of its own. Upgraded leather and materials, all LED lighting and HIDs, sunroof, push button start, LCD instrument cluster like in the Sierra Denali. It would attract many of the suburb lifestyle people that want all the luxuries and efficiencies of a car but also want the utility of a truck without stepping up to a bigger (and pricier) Sierra Denali. Look at how successful the Denali line has been, it would surely do well.
As soon as they give these trucks a column shifter instead of that center console BS, I’ll order one.
But until then, no way.
I could care less about dealer orders. Of course they will order these trucks in good number.
Come back in 6 months to a year and tell me how many they sold and then I will be impressed if they are good numbers.
The Colorado will definately sell more than the canyon based on Base price. It will definately be a Colorado for me.I priced out a Canyon with a few options, and it was over $40,000…What?For some reason the GMC website only gives you a choice of a crew cab and 4wd.Makes me wonder if i can actually get a 2wd extended cab or not?I’m sure it’s a “glitch”on their website.
