Corvette Racing is not the only racing team fighting for a championship in the season finale.
Stevenson Motorsports drivers Andrew Davis and Robin Liddell have their work cut out for them if the Camaro Z/28.R is going to see a class win in the IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge. The Davis-Liddell Z/28.R is fielded in the Grand Sport class in the series. Until recently, it was in the lead for points this season, having won three races so far, and having placed second in two others. But then, the team was dethroned as class leaders at the most recent race at Circuit of the Americas.
“We were a little disappointed [at COTA] because we lost ground in the points, and it was a tough race with the weather conditions,” said driver Andrew Davis. “We lost our point lead, but now we go to Road Atlanta – my home – to battle for the championship. It’s going to be exciting, and we’re going to put on a great show.”
A great show is likely, as the Davis-Liddell duo trail behind the No. 46 BMW M3 by only five points heading into the final race of the season next weekend at Road Atlanta. Like the folks at Stevenson Motorsports, we’ll be at the edge of our seats to see if Davis and Liddell can pull off a first-place finish in Atlanta, and a points win in the series.
