Shanghai General Motors has launched its new MyChevy online 4S store, a virtual online dealership that allows Chinese customers to view new Chevrolet models, place orders on vehicles, book service appointments and buy coupons for maintenance from their computer.
In China, an authorized car dealership is called a 4S store, short for sales, service, spare parts and surveys. The online 4S dealer will improve “customer communication, create more communication channels, reduce marketing costs and offer online deals to customers.,” Chevrolet says. The online 4S store will initially launch with 67 authorized dealers in 48 major Chinese cities, but will be available for another 200 dealers before the end of 2014. By that time, the services the online 4S store provides will also be expanded to include online surveys, used car sales and 3-D vehicle configuration.
Chinese users will be able to track down the 4S online store or WeChat site of their nearest Chevrolet dealer at www.mychevy.com.cn. This will allow them to interact live with online service consultants and receive  info about brand news, services and discounts in addition to the features the 4S store already offers. The launch of the 4S store is part of Chevrolet’s outreach to younger consumers across China, which also includes the introduction of the MyChevy vehicle information app.
