‘Regular Car Reviews’ Tackles Corvette C7 Stingray In A Slightly NSFW Way: Video

‘Regular Car Reviews,’ the voice of the everyday American car consumer, has produced a video review of the car at the very top of the everyday range: the seventh generation Chevrolet Corvette. And it’s hilarious.
It’s typically wise to look to other sources for earnest and reliable consumer advice. Still, amidst the bizarrely funny word-vomit that his viewers know and love, the Regular Cars guy makes some very valid observations regarding the seventh iteration of America’s sweetheart. The electronic parking brake, for example, is a puzzling feature for a visceral, thoroughbred supercar-fighter – not to mention equipment which sneezes in the face of the optional good ol’ 7-speed manual gearbox. It’s like installing a satellite radio on a pre-war Buick; yeah, you can do it, but the irony of those bits of equipment being on the same machine makes God cry.
Then there’s the observation that as with a sporty European marque, you’re buying the name as much as you are the car. The difference is, of course, that with the Corvette, you’re getting disproportionately great performance for the cost. That’s where the reviewer’s opinion starts to fall apart: as he says, the Corvette will never be an Aston Martin. But the Corvette never needs to be an Aston Martin (which is ironically, one of the first things he says, but let’s not let that get in the way of the entertainment). A lightning quick Ferrari-fighter that’s accessible enough for the everyman has entirely its own merit. It doesn’t promise comparable exclusivity, but then, what’s so great about exclusivity? A car which puts performance-per-dollar before all else – that’s as American as apple pie.
Still, it’s a review loaded with a metric boat-load of memorable quotes and ridiculous anecdotal insight (and even an original song). So, Regular-Cars-guy, keep doing what you do; we all love you for it. But fair warning, you’re better off enjoying this review on a personal computer.
The one thing I find disappointing in the C7, is that the rear fascia still flexes. Come on team vette, Jeremy Clarkson already mentioned that years back when he took the ZR1.
That was lame!
The novelty of RCR is wearing off; the same tired first year college paper writing in every video. We get it. Give yourself a self-congratulatory pat on the back for being an English major without the wherewithal to take on journalism. Right now it’s a hobby blog, sucking back Jager and living viciously through old Street Fighter torrents.
Good Lord that was annoying. I never got why anyone liked their lame reviews; and after this – I can safely say I will never watch another.
Grawdaddy hit the nail on the head with his assessment.
