Europe gets a lot of cool things us Americans aren’t allowed to have. The Focus RS, the Volkswagen Scirocco, just to name two. Add this 1970 Opel GT to the list of cool things we were never able to experience, until now.
A 1970 Opel GT has just sprung onto eBay with lots of goodies for the new owner. Â The Opel GT was originally offered with a 1.1L four-cylinder engine putting down 67 hp, but a 1.9L good for 102 hp was offered, and is the engine this particular GT is equipped with. The owner stored the car for close to twenty years, and has absolutely babied the body work. The body is all new fiberglass, and has been wet sanded, buffed, and allowed to cure. The motor has been completely rebuilt, and adjustable Koni shocks handle the suspension duties. The odometer reads a seriously low 36,712 miles, which means there is plenty of life left in this foreigner on American roads.
The Opel GT is sure to garner looks from passing 240Z owners as you cruise by them. Style won’t come at a price either, since this oddity comes at a frugal price tag of only $7,500.

It’s in the Boston area, in case anyone was interested.
I would rather find one in stock form. They are not common but they are not impossible to find.
You get into a car like this and to finish it you would have more than it is worth. This is one you would do for the love of the car not investment.

Huh???
a) “Scirocco” cool??
b) more than 70% of all Opel GTs were sold in the US
I remember Buick Dealers sold an Opel, but it looked like the old Toyota Corolla’s. The car was small, square, not like this one. I looked one up on ebay and they called it Opel Kadett. A friend of mine had one custom painted in Texas while he was in the Army, baby blue, black interior and custom air brushing on hood and truck area.
clearly states that this machine is not in stock. even just seeing the pictures, it is clear that the machine is not in stock. sii, and one wonders what he compares his eye saw the saloon and the picture is not stock. but the point is the Opel GT.
FORD FOCUS RS is super cool.Ford Focus RS would be available for anyone in America would not buy a VW Golf. Focus ST is already very popular even in America. when the new Focus RS will be on sale in America this is a big win for Ford and the big money.U.S. and EU GT were also different. unfortunately, or fortunately, however, is different from U.S. and EU cars did, however, whether even the same model.
Ford and volksvaagen earn big money from hot hatches. GM will review the top. FIAT500 the same story. parts of things I did not understand just what GM will
We did get this car here. As a kid in the early 80s I remember seeing these regularly. I instinctively knew they were foreign in origin and design and wrote them off as “knock off Vettes”. When i got a little older (and after my dad did a tour in Germany) I realized they were Opels. Still not to impressed. I prefer the Manta myself.
