Kooks Introduces New Axleback Performance Exhaust For C6 Corvette

Kooks – the “foremost header and exhaust company in the world” – is releasing a new axleback exhaust system for the C6 Corvette. It bolts up either to the stock exhaust system, or to Kooks’ own long-tube C6 headers and x-pipe.

More importantly for owners of the Z06/ZR1 branded C6 models, it will work with those, too. A note on axleback systems: these differ from catback systems in that they start at the rear axle, i.e. they do not come with an intermediate/x-pipe. This often makes them less expensive.

The system promises “the next level of sound, looks and performance that is expected from every Kooks product.” This is accomplished partly with the aid of quad 4 inch tips, two oval race mufflers, and mandrel bends (as opposed to inferior press bends) over the half-axles.

That’s quite the sales pitch. Unfortunately, we couldn’t find any dynamometer results comparing this Kooks system to the stock axleback exhaust, but noticeable gains in horsepower and torque are a safe bet due to reduced restriction.

Of course, with a lofty price tag starting at $1,749.99 and up, they’d better deliver.
