GM Announces New Head Of Chevrolet & GMC Arabia

Earlier today General Motors announced the appointment of Jeroen Barwegen as the new Regional Sales and Marketing Director for Chevrolet and GMC in the Middle East. This appointment to the newly created role is part of GM Middle East’s strategy to change the way it focuses on its brands.

Barwegen, a 10-year veteran with GM, was most recently heading up sales operations for Chevrolet Russia. Previously he was in Budapest leading sales and marketing operations for Chevrolet in 11 countries (for GM Eastern/Central Europe). Jeroen also spent nine years with Ford Europe in finance and sales operations roles.

“Chevrolet and GMC are completely different beasts to Cadillac. And as such, they deserve strong leadership and tailored approaches to maximize their impact in the region,” says GM Middle East’s President and Managing Director, Maurice Williams. “Jeroen’s proven track record and leadership experience in GM makes him a valuable asset to our company.”

Barwegen responsibilities will include leading and implementing the respective Chevrolet and GMC sales and marketing strategies across GM’s 10 markets in the Middle East.

“As it was with my role in Budapest, there are many different markets, different cultures, and different preferences to accommodate. We will carefully evaluate and see where the undiscovered opportunities lay,” says the Dutch national. “Of course we will continue to put our customers at the center of everything we do; reaching them through the avenues they are familiar with and providing them with the best in products and service. It’s an exciting time for Chevrolet and GMC in this region. I look forward to being able to contribute to their bright futures here.”

  1. If Algeria is part of GM Middle East, hope he will bring the 1.4 turbo to the Cruze, Sonic and Trax. Hope to see the MyLink and the name plant we haven’t such as the Orlando, Traverse, Colorado, Silverado and Suburban for Chevrolet. For Opel The Mokka, Adam, Meriva, Zafira and why not the Cascada.
Finally, it’s a dream but why not to see Cadillac…

  2. Am I the only one here getting the where’s Waldo vibe?

Sorry but put a cap and striped shirt on him.
