Regular readers of GM Authority may recall a post from last week about an LA Chevrolet dealer attempting to sell a 2014 Camaro Z/28 for a $30,000 mark-up. Felix Chevrolet — the dealer in question — sent us an email explaining that this black-on-black Camaro Z/28 was listed for $106,165 due to a “human input error.” “Felix Chevrolet currently has five Camaro Z/28 vehicles in stock and the remaining four did not have this mark-up error,” the email went on to say. No word on whether the party at fault is facing disciplinary action for their mistake, but we certainly hope not; as who among us hasn’t listed something at $30,000 over MSRP at some point in our lives? A quick search of the phrase “Camaro Z/28” on Felix Chevrolet’s site reveals that yes, the dealer has since corrected the price tag, and that yes, somehow this now-famous Camaro has not yet sold. It also reveals that indeed, Felix Chevrolet has other Z/28s for sale without the mark-up.

Why wouldn’t they leave the factory sticker on?
Because that would leave the dealer without a cut of the buyers money, even though they provide no value-added service and are simply middlemen.
Hey now, everyone makes mistakes. And even if they didn’t, there’s no law that says a Dealer can’t ask more for a car than MSRP, especially custom builds or specialty vehicles. Check out http://autos.msn.com/Advice/Articles/pricingfaq.aspx?th=1#q12.
Busted!
I went in to Felix and indeed they had a sticker that asked for Market mark up on the front windshield, when I asked what this was for they said its “One of a Kind.” According to Jay B Sales Manager. at that time they only had 3, I see its still one of a kind because its still there…
Oh and the battery did not work to start the car. 🙂
Fairway Chevrolet in Las Vegas, NV and their sister dealership in Henderson, NV are adding $25k to their Z28 models. They’ll be lucky to get invoice for the Z28s once the new Z06 Stingrays become available.
The other point here is that the dealer has 5 Z/28’s in-stock? Not exactly “jumping off the lot” are they? Even though this is a very limited production version, there are plenty of them around , both ’14 and ’15’s. A dealer in Miami has a’14 listed for $8000 off MSRP.
