You’ve probably heard of or seen a car with Plasti-Dip on it. The aerosol substance is used primarily to protect certain parts of a car or the entire thing from winter weather and general abuse, but some use it solely for styling purposes. The best part about it is it peels right off, revealing a completely untouched surface underneath. This 2014 Corvette Stingray Z51 we found for sale on eBay had its Arctic Whit paint finish completely covered with Plasti-Dip and frankly, we’re not sure what to make of it.
The car is being sold with an interesting “Beta Midnight Flip” Plasti-Dip, but before it was painted “Pearl Orange,” the seller says. Neither of them look particularly bad, but the dull finish that comes with doing a job like this looks a little cheap. The seller says he’ll change the color to anything you want if you buy the car, or return it back to its original Arctic White color, which is “flawless” thanks to the Plasti-Dip’s protection.
Whether you like the current color or not, you’ll almost definitely like the hardware. The Stingray is equipped with the 2LT trim package and the Z51 pack and a 7-speed manual transmission. It’s also been upgraded with a Pro Charger supercharger, Pfadt headers and mid pipe, Corsa mufflers with new exhaust tips and a Diablo tuner. The supercharger is running 9 psi of boost, bumping the 460 horsepower LT1 to 607 horsepower and 559 lb-ft of torque at the rear wheels.
The seller makes a good point in saying you could wait a year for the 2015 Z06, or just buy this car now. But honestly, we’d hold out for the Z06. If you’re interested, check out the eBay listing here.
