All sorts of unique classic muscle cars attend the Hot Rod Power Tour, a 7 day, 1,600 mile classic car tour which sees a convoy of vehicles drive through seven different cities. It’s hard to have a standout car among the eccentric rides that make an appearance, but Phillip Teel definitely turned a few heads when he showed up in his 1971 Pontiac GTO with a 6.6-liter Duraxmax diesel V8 stuffed under the hood.
There isn’t much info on the Duramax GTO, but it was spotted by Mothers Polish on the second day of the Power Tour in Knoxville, Tennessee. Coupled with the HD truck engine is an all-wheel drive system and a raised ride height, which may be a necessary modification to accommodate the diesel powertrain. There’s also a standout shade of green, chrome aftermarket wheels and a side exit exhaust.
This isn’t the first Duramax-powered muscle car we’ve seen, but it’s definitely the most unique. There doesn’t seem to be much info of the car around or a video of it in action, which is what we were hoping for when we stumbled across it. Streetlegal TV called for the owner to reachout to them, so maybe we’ll known more in the future.
