Twin-Turbo Holden Ute With LS Power: Video

When Pontiac introduced the G8 a few years ago, there was chatter about General Motors introducing a ute version of the sedan. And why not? GM hasn’t had an El Camino for years, but the ute would have been a natural variation. Alas, Pontiac was sunk with the recession and brankruptcy. Chevrolet now has the SS, but apparently there isn’t yet a good reason to revive the El Camino. ‘Tis a shame, especially after watching the below video of this twin-turbo Holden ute.

As reported by LSXTV, this ute on the Fullboost channel on YouTube has an LS 403 small-block paired to a Tremec Magnum six-speed manual. Owner “Tacka” ran a 13.7 ET at 128.5 mph in his first run, then refined it to 13.0 at 128.7 by his third, all without traction − clearly there’s opportunity to wring this ute for better ETs, especially considering it’s an air-fed LS powering the Aussie.

With news of the Holden Commodore’s swan song, the days are numbered for the Holden ute. However, considering the ute has such a storied past in Oz, we would be willing to bet the next iteration of Holden’s big sedan will have a ute version of its own.

A FWD ute, god, that’d be the most useless thing ever. Pass.

This Pontiac/Holden (whichever) pick up can really move. Is this their answer to the Chevy’s SSR monster ?
Would like to see the two in quarter mile matchup.
