This Corvette Stingray Flambe Breaks Our Hearts

Ever since the car first went on sale last year, we’ve seen a fairly steady stream of wrecked C7 Corvettes pop up on the internet. Actually, now that we think of it, Chevrolet crashed a pre-production model even before the car arrived at dealers, so we’re really not surprised anymore when we see a crashed C7. One thing we haven’t seen though is a C7 Corvette go up completely in flames, which is apparently what happened to this car we found a photo of on Facebook.

As you can see, the fire left this Corvette a charred, black mess. The majority of the body panels have melted off, including the entire rear hatch and roof, while the 6.2-liter LT1 V8 has been reduced to scrap as it sits in the roasted engine bay. In happier days, the car appears to have been a gleaming C7 Corvette base model, a fact given away by the non-Z51 wheels.

We don’t know anything about the fire or how it started. It could have started as the result of a crash, or some other type of mechanical or electrical flaw. Or maybe it was arson, although that would make this incident even more unfortunate for the owner than it already is. What we do know is we should all take a moment out of our day to mourn the loss of yet another C7.
