The Cleanest 1975 Chevrolet Suburban You Will Ever See: Craigslist Find

It’s rare to come across a perfect ‘survivor car’, that being a vehicle that is in like-new condition and has never had to be repaired or restored. If you do, it will likely be an ultra-desirable muscle car or sports car that the owner babied since new, like a 1969 Camaro SS or Pontiac GTO Judge. Coming across a survivor car that is typically used as a daily driver, like a Chevrolet CK/10 for example, is much more uncommon. That’s what makes this like-new 1975 Chevrolet Suburban currently up for sale on Craigslist a bit of a marvel.

Many Suburban buyers purchased the vehicle with the intent on towing a trailer, taking the family on a road trip, or maybe even doing some off-roading. Due to this, many eighth-generation Suburbans are in rough shape and would require lots of time, effort and money to make it look anywhere near as good as this all-original example does. The seller says the vehicle has been garaged throughout its entire life and that the “inside is like a time capsule,” with seats that look as if they’ve never been sat on some of the cleanest carpets we’ve seen in any 30-year old car, let alone a work horse like this.

The 454 Big Block engine is in perfect running condition and has just passed the 100,000-mile mark. Both the front and rear A/C units work, as does the power rear window. The hulking SUV also comes with all paper work acquired since 1975, including the original write-up sheet from the dealer. If you have a ‘70s era classic car, boat or camping trailer, we can’t think of a cooler vehicle to tow it with. At $6,500 OBO, it’s also a steal if you ask us. Check out the listing here.

  2. You’re good at finding these.

This one looks like a gem. I just wonder how much oil it leaks.

Also, not sure if those mirrors are factory.

Would make a great conversation piece at the local show and shine.

  3. These are not as rare as you think.

we have a local guy here with one that he has shown since the 80’s. It is mostly stock and has around 50K miles.

Back then he was the nut that showed a newer 70’s Suburban and today he is the guy with the really clean original Suburban. Time has changed public opinion.

    1. There are always those rare few who seem to just know what car to buy and options to select. Then they have the even rarer ability to have that obsessive long-term planning and patience to preserve the darn thing.

      1. I find that it is not all that rare as often many older Suburban’s were used for towing and not much else.

On the other hand the smaller 2 door blazer was built in greater numbers but because they were a primary vehicle they got used up.

Many may not realize or even know the Suburban was often a limited use second car back in those days. People often did not want to drive them daily as often the price of gas or the shortage of gas prevented it. Yes gas was cheaper then than now but coming off 32.9 cent per gallon gas there was a shock wave that killed the larger cars and slowed the use of larger SUV vehicles like the Suburban.

In the early to mid 80’s I ran across many a full size Coupe Deville that had hardly any miles on it as it often sat and was only drive once a week if that. You could buy them cheap but back then not many people wanted a 500 CID engine to feed. It is sad but the resale on a smaller FWD car was much higher than a 7,000 mile Coupe Deville.
