NASCAR Sprint Cup Champion Kurt Busch may have Chevrolet as a sponsor, but that’s not where his love for the bowtie brand stems from. Growing up, Busch and his family always had Chevrolets, with his mom driving a Malibu and his dad driving a 1981 Chevrolet Silverado. Now Busch has his own Chevys, but we’d say his are a bit cooler than his parent’s cars were.
Busch owns both a 1961 C1 Corvette and a 2014 Chevrolet SS. He brought the ’61 ‘Vette out to Woodward Dream Cruise this past weekend and says him and his friend restored the C1 together, trying to get it as original-looking as possible. Busch’s car is equipped with the 283 cubic inch (4.6-liter) Chevrolet Small Block V8 engine, which was no longer used in the C1 beyond 1961.
As amazing as it would be, you can’t drive a C1 Corvette every day really. That’s why Busch also has his daily driver, a Chevrolet SS. He describes the car as a “sports car in disguise” and says compared to other cars in the Chevy lineup, it has its own unique feel. See what else the Stewart-Haas racing driver had to say about his two Chevys in the video below.
