Holden has announced General Motors’ 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine will be available in its Trax CUV for the 2015 model year. The engine is also available in the Barina RS and Cruze in Australia and joins the naturally aspirated 1.8-liter engine in the Trax’s engine portfolio.
The 1.4-liter engine, available on range-topping LTZ variants of the Trax only, is producing the same 138 horsepower and 147 lb-ft of torque as it is in other applications. 1.8-liter models of the Trax are still available with the standard 5-speed manual transmission, however the 1.4-liter can only be had with a six-speed automatic.
Also standard on LTZ-equipped Traxs are 18-inch alloy wheels, rain sensing wiper blades, a drivers armrest and a sunroof. The car also features Chevrolet’s MyLink infotainment system and chassis systems such as a Descent Control System and Hill Start Assist. Holden has priced the LTZ variant of the car with the existing 1.8-liter engine from $27,999, but did not announce price premiums for the 1.4-liter engine.
