General Motors Files Trademark Application For ‘C/K 10’

General Motors has filed a trademark application with the United States Patent and Trademark Office for the term “C/K 10”. Filed on August 4th, 2014, coinciding with the date that the automaker filed for the Sierra Elevation trademark.

Moreover, the application carries serial number 86356203 and lists “Motor land vehicles, namely, trucks” as its Goods and Services category.

Those who have been following GM for some time will remember that C/K was the name of the full-size Chevrolet and GMC pickup truck lines from the 1960s thru the late 1990s. The “C” indicated two-wheel drive, while the “K” indicated four-wheel drive. Both were replaced with the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra names. Until this took place, the Silverado and Sierra names were used to identify the trim level of the C/K trucks.

Could it be this C/K product will be the Chevrolet equivalent of the GMC Sierra Elevation? If not, what do you think GM is trademarking C/K for? Talk to us in the comments.

  1. My initial thought would be that it could be an entry level trim package that would either complement or replace WT. WT IMHO is not a good trim name because its slang acronym is “white trash.”

I like the Scottsdale name. It would be cool to see a Silverado Scottsdale edition.

  2. Chevrolet Montana compact pickup in Latin markets, based on the Agile platform (same as Opel Corsa)
    C10 – FWD
    K10 – AWD

    1.4T @140hp and 2.5L @200hp 4 cylinders
That truck in other markets only weighs something like 2500lbs (not much more than a Miata). Could be a 35mpg hatch back, only when a bed and can haul 1700lbs.

    1. While the Montana uses the same low-cost Gamma architecture as the Agile, Onyx, and (South American-market) Cobalt, the current Corsa uses a different platform. That will change with the next-gen model, as the Corsa will also go on the new global G2XX… but that’s not the case today.

      1. Do you think something like that would work in the states? With the higher gas mileage standards looming and it being abound to haul 1700 pounds at or about 35 mpg I say why not.

  3. Lighter duty full sized pickup. Like the old F100.

Getting ready for better fuel economy and no loss of utility. Just some marginal payload and towing. Perfect for about 50% of pickup buyers.

Same great taste – but less filling.
