Fall In LUV With This Chevrolet Drag Racing Truck: eBay Find

When the Chevy LUV was released in North America in 1972, it was fitted with an anemic 75 hp four-cylinder. Thankfully, this little blue truck now sports twice the cylinders, as that 1.8L has been replaced with a big ole’ built 355 cu-in Small Block V8.

This 1974 Chevy LUV is offered for sale on eBay with a Buy It Now price of $19,995. This particular example appears to have been set up for drag racing, including a 350 bored 0.30 over putting the power through a TH400 and to the ground with a meaty set of slicks. This car appears to be quite well done on the outside (with the exception of a not-quite-secured grill), although the interior seems to be a bit less sorted. There are wires and zip ties running all over the place, but the owner seems to have spend much more time and money on the engine.  The engine/transmission combo is claimed to have been redone 2 and a half years ago, although no mileage is mentioned. Whoever took care of the engine must have known what they were doing, as the car now is able to run a claimed 6.8 second 1/8 mile.

It is worth noting that this car is sold in the “Race Cars (Not Street Legal)” section of eBay, but does appear to be sporting Nebraska plates in the second to last photo. For the asking price, a trailer is included, which brings up even more questions about the street-legality of the car. This car is certainly a unique take on a 70’s classic, but will the questionable street-ability and badly sorted interior stop it from being worth nearly $20,000?

  1. That truck is pretty awesome. Almost as awesome as David Shulman’s writing skills. Which is a lot.
