Chevrolet debuted its all-new D2XX-based Chevrolet Cruze for the Chinese market at the Beijing Auto Show in April. The new compact car was unveiled before its similarly-styled American cousin and will also go on sale in China before it does in America, set for an on-sale date of August 22, according to Car News China.
When it arrives at dealers, the 2016 Cruze will have a price of 120,000 yuan to 160,000 yuan ($19,457 – $25,943 USD). The base 1.5-liter engine is from GM’s new Ecotec line of four-cylinder engines, producing 113 horsepower and 108 lb-ft of torque. A more powerful 1.4-liter engine with 140 horsepower and 173 lb-ft of torque will also be available. Transmission options are a six-speed manual or a seven-speed DSG automatic, both of which will likely carryover into the U.S.-spec car.
The 2016 Cruze also has an all-new interior which is more upscale and refined. It is complete with an eight-inch color touch screen with Chevrolet’s new MyLink 2.0 infotainment system, an all-new more slender steering wheel, an all-new dashboard layout with ice-blue illuminated buttons and much more. It is not clear when the U.S. market D2XX Cruze will debut, but a reveal at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November is rumored.

This car has grown on me. The new Heart Beat language lines up well with Opel design, and this will work out well in AU, NZ and Latin America.
It bests Focus sedan.
This car has an outstanding interior and the current Cruze driving dynamics are solid, so this should be even better.
Get in a plasticky Honda Civic and then drive this, and you will see, feel, and hear the difference.
This car bests all Japanese offerings aside from Mazda 3 and is on par with Kia Forte (car and brand that has received so much attention for quality/fit & finish/space.
I also like how GM did not waste resources in variants, and is globally using Astra for that purpose.
As GM manufacturing becomes leaner, products will benefit from higher quality materials.
