Community Question: What’s The Best Looking Sedan GM Sells Right Now?

Kind of out of nowhere, every brand from General Motors is selling some great looking four-doors. Chevrolet, for example, has the 2014 Impala and SS. The tweaked Malibu isn’t that bad, either, nor is the facelifted Cruze. Then there’s Buick with the refreshed 2014 Regal and LaCrosse, and the Verano has managed to maintain a sense of elegance, despite the ass-brows.

Holden’s VF Commodore is gorgeous, but maybe not as gorgeous as the 2014 Cadillac CTS. But while we have our own opinions, we’d like to hear yours. Discuss in the comment section below on what you think is The General’s most fetching four-door.

  1. Currently it has to be the Cadillac CTS V-Sport, come January it’ll definitely be the CTS-V

    1. My thoughts exactly. The current CTS, especially in V-Sport trim, is the most handsome GM sedan. Next to this, I would say, without a doubt, the Impala. Then the ATS comes in third, with maybe the XTS in fourth. Everything else is rather snoresville…….Well maybe except for the Regal GS and LaCrosse, which are a somewhat distant fifth and sixth……

  2. NONE…!!! They are all Butt Ugly…!!!

Just look at the beautiful Ford Fusion for inspiration… !!!

    1. You couldn’t even recommend a Lincoln sedan; even you know they’re irredeemable and austere misery-mobiles.

To that end, I’ll put a vote in for the CTS in any flavour.

    2. A Ford Fusion? you on crack?

  3. There are several: Impala, Regal and the Chevy SS come to mind. The Cruze needs the 2016 redesign before I would consider it to be as good looking as these other sedans. The Malibu is a close runner-up except for the lack of refinement in the rear lights. Ditto for the Buick Verano.

  4. I am partial to the Commodore/SS. Specifically, HSV got it right with the current GTS.

  5. Regal & Impala are my favorites. Caddy makes beautiful cars but I only have eyes for the CTS Coupe, maybe ERL design.

  6. Impala is gorgeous, Regal GS looks awesome, CTS Vsport pretty good too. If we start taking Euro and Oz then the VXR/OPC and HSV sedans are tip-top too

  7. the Lacrosse is good looking…but not that good looking….. the Buick Lacrosse is a little Bulky as resalt of a tall roofline and everything is bulked up inside and out….. those are the only down things about the Lacrosse……….on the next Buick Lacrosse….they should lower the body height and grow it a 1 or 2 inches longer and thin everything out…..a longer fastback verson of the Mazda 6 and it might be a great looking car.

  8. Overall design , the Chevy SS is #1 . This understated car is a BMW beater , just add AWD and a turbo V6 and it would really enhance sales . Unfortunately this superb car was brought over as the new NASCAR entry and will probably be toast in a couple of years . One design problem with the SS , to me is the small whitefish lips grill . The new australian Ford Falcon design is crazy good . Here the main grill is big and hot , while the opening below is small ..,.,.this is the way it should be . For some reason , Chevrolet is burdoned by this split grill syndrome . To me , its like saying , the hot full grills go to the expensive lines like Buick and Cadillac while the cheaper models like Chevy get the plain janes . This , if true , is foolish , Chevrolet is your maximum sales center and should hit Ford right in the eye with just as hot a vehicle in the same market segment in which it competes !!

    1. I find this interesting. I love the guts of the SS, and want to buy one so bad, but I find it the ugliest GM car ever produced. Its so ugly I couldn’t even take the one I found in a showroom on a test drive. I looked through various websites looking for a body kit to make it palatable, but to no avail.

To me the Chevy SS looks like a big cobalt, or another big chevy sedan like the Malibu. In fact, put a Malibu and an SS next to eachother and I can’t tell the difference. Nothing about it says sports sedan. I really hope they update the look big time, and I’ll put some serious consideration into it.

Currently driving a 2010 Cadillac CTS SPP. I’m due for a new car, but the lack of 4 door sticks is getting difficult since Cadillac discontinued theirs in 2010. The SS is a logical replacement especially with the stick which can now be ordered, but I don’t want to drive a Malibu with a bigger engine- I’d like to drive a sports sedan.

I understand its just my opinion and you have a very different one. If nothing else I find it incredibly intriguing that one person finds a design “#1” and someone else finds it absolute bottom of the barrel. I’m glad I don’t have to be a car designer now days!

      My top 3:

      #1- CTS-V
      #2- CTS Coupe
      #3- Camaro ZL1

  9. flagship wise….. Chevy will have plan conventional sedan……Buick to have a sporty good looking four-door coupe sedan……caddy to be a big red-blooded S-class fighter.

  10. in fact….the 2016 Buick Lacrosse/flagship should have a lower body height than the Impala….because Buick will be a four-door coupe sedan and the Impala will stay a conventional sedan and four-door coupes tend to have lower body heights than conventional sedans………Buick flagship 198 inches long /// 57 inches in height……….Chevy flagship 201 inches long ///58 inches in height……that way the Buick would be smaller than the Chevy with different styling….and the Buick Lacrosse would be a sleeker low bodied sporty four-door coupe….and the Impala would be just a plan softer conventional sedan and fallow retro styling and look like the 1969 impala in the next generation in around 2020 or so.

  11. I always thought that the Buick Lucerne was the best looking vehicle, I would buy a new one in a heartbeat. Since that’s not going to happen, I think my next Buick will be the new convertible.

  12. I like a lot of them but I will have to yield to the most recent models of the CTS and Impala. Both are very stunning and fresh clean new designs as GM needs to make.

They both rely on each brands hallmarks but neither tries to play the retro card for an easy pass.

  14. It has to be the CTS-V hands down. However, as a Vauxhall Omega fan i would love to see a new rendition of it since it has been sorely missed for the last 11 years. I bet they could make it super good looking too.

  17. Sorry but you’re all wrong! The Cadillac CTS-V Wagon, hands down!! Ok, so it’s not so current, but it does have 4 doors!!
Next would be the Chevy Impala SS! YES, I KNOW THEY DON’T MAKE ONE. But if they did, it would be #2!

  18. Best looking… the Buick Regal. I just wish that it was 110% of its size with a back seat that’s usable to a 6-footer, more trunk space and a 3.6 V6 under the hood.

  19. For my money I’d have to go for the Impala LTZ first , then the CTS and then the Buick Verano . And I guess the XTS if GM would give the front end a sharper ( Elmiraj ) look .
My neighbor has a Fusion and it is a sharp looking vehicle .

  20. The CTS is a gorgeous car. Wheels make a big difference though.

I really like the fetching design on the new Impalas as well, especially in higher trim levels with the bright accents. Very high quality car as well.

The Regal GS is beautiful especially with the 20 inch wheels.

  21. the Lacrosse needs to be longer, lower and sharper…..sharper lower front hood and sharper rear…. as wall as a lower trunk lid….plus the body height should be lower.

  22. My top choices include:

    3. LaCrosse
    2. Malibu
    1. CTS

The LaCrosse offers everything you’d ever want and a big front fascia wearing a tri-shield badge should tell you that it’s dependable. I love the sharp angles found on the Malibu. It’s familiar downward stance with the G6 and it’s well appointed, superior quality interior create a mid-size sedan that isn’t just a Toyota Camry. The CTS is the best sedan GM has ever built and there’s no doubt about that. It is great at doing everything including driving dynamics, quality, comfort, technology, and exterior design.

    1. not really the Lacrosse is bulky looking and has a compact size trunk I doen’t see the Lacrosse as a great car for a flagship. but is a good car for an entry-level.

This would be either,or both 2 and 4 door versions, with all the power; (at least 425 HP) and all the other refinements that only Buick can do including AWD. Come on Buick !!! Please give us what America needs.
