The most recent Batmobile is the Tumbler, which starred in the highly successful Dark Knight and the Dark Knight Rises movies. That version of Batmobile is cool and all, but looks more fit for the military than it does a superhero. Personally, we prefer the wild-looking Batmobile from the 1989 Batman film. If you agree with us, you’ll be pleased to find out a replica of this version Batmobile has recently popped up for sale on eBay.
The Batmobile is being sold by Central Classic Cars of Sylvania, Ohio. In the listing, they say the car is based around a Corvette chassis, which we’re assuming is from the fourth-generation car considering the vehicle is listed as being a 1987 model year. Under the hood is a fuel-injected LT1 V8 engine and an automatic transmission, which can be used in conjunction with a real jet engine that was installed in the back of car. The listing says the turbo jet engine is “well engineered to the chassis,” though the previous owner had the air compressor for the starter removed for liability reasons. The seller says it could easily be hooked back up by someone with the proper know how, though.
The car is completely road legal and is titled as being a Corvette. It is being sold “as-is with no warranties or guarantees of any kind expressed or implied,” Central Classic Cars says and the owner is “looking for a straight cash sale as a priority.” So if you happen to have $150,000 cash on hand, the Batmobile could be yours.
