Last July Callaway Competition received authorization from General Motors to build the Corvette C7 GT3 for sanctioned racing. The project was put on temporary hold due to changing GT regulations, but now Callaway will resume development for a 2016 debut.
Sportscar351 reports that since development of the C7 GT3 won’t be finished in time for September’s 2015 Balance of Performance test at Michelin’s Ladoux track, the development team will instead continue to work on an extensive testing program before entering the C7 GT3 in competition in 2016.
However, it is not all a wash for Callaway, as it will continue competing with four Corvette Z06.R GT3s in Germany’s ADAC GT Masters, where it most recently scored two victories at the Red Bull Ring and currently is in fifth place in the drivers’ standings so far this season.
