C7 Corvette To Make Trans-Am Debut In August

The C7-generation Corvette  is seeing racing duties beyond the Tudor United Sportscar championship, now set to debut in the Trans Am road racing series campaigned by Derhaag Motorsports.

The No. 59 Derhaag Motorsports Chevrolet Corvette will be driven in the TA class by the 2012 Trans Am champion, Simon Gregg. The race series says the C7 will be the first to usher in the next-generation of Trans Am bodywork. It was designed and built by Derhaag Motorsports themselves, with assistance from Nowicki Autosport and Chevrolet.

“We wanted to make a body that truly encompassed the spirit and design of the 2014 Corvette Stingray,” said Jim Derhaag, owner of Derhaag Motorsports. “When we began this project it was imperative in my mind that we did this the right way, no short cuts, no easy ways out. The body had to be the culmination of everything Corvette, fitted for the TA platform. The result is a future Trans Am icon, something we’re very proud of and a product representative of the quality expected from the Derhaag Motorsports name. It is the future of the TA class and the future of Trans Am.”

Derhaag Motorsports says the body is available for purchase by other Trans Am teams immediately, with spare bodies currently ready to ship. You can see the car in action when it takes to Mid Ohio Raceway for round seven of the 2014 Trans Am Championship, The 3-Dimensional Services Next Dimension 100, on Saturday, August 16.
