General Motors has just released the individual (RPO) equipment-level changes to the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado line of pickup trucks. The changes go far, but start with the replacement of Blue Granite Metallic and Blue Topaz Metallic colors with Deep Ocean Blue Metallic and Rain Forest Green Metallic.
Meanwhile, new features for the 2015 Silverado include OnStar 4G LTE with Wi-Fi capability (and a larger antenna to boot), Premium Camper Mirrors, spray-on bed liner, a new off-road graphic in the info center of the Z71 model, moving the USB port into the glovebox on trucks with the bench seat, and — last but certainly not least — the newfound availability of the Silverado Rally Edition appearance package.
In addition, all 2015 Silverados do away with HD Radio functionality, Hill Start Assist hold time increases from 1.5 to 3 seconds, the 2WT trim level becomes changes to LS, and chrome tow hooks become a factory installed option. On top of that, the 8-inch MyLink radios become available on the LT Regular Cab models, the Rear Vision Camera is included in the Silverado WT Convenience Package, 17-inch wheels become standard on the 1LT All Star Edition (18-, 20- or 22-inch wheels are also available), the 4.3L LV3 V6 engine and the 5.3L V8 L83 engine become E85-capable when equipped with the FHS RPO, and the LT trim levels get body-color door handles, mirror caps, and body side moldings.
For whatever reason, the list doesn’t include 8-speed automatic transmissions, but they’re definitely part of the 2015 Silverado lineup. Check out the RPO-level changes for yourself:

Comments
“To our dismay, the 8-speed transmissions are not on the LIST” but it is listed under Engines/Axles for the double and crew cab models with 3.23 gears standard and 3.42 with the NHT Max Tow package (which needs the description modified accordingly.)
It’s still a disappointment that shorter gears are not available across the board, in particular with the “off-road” package where one might more apt to install some form of lift and larger tires for added clearance.
And the loss of Blue Granite… My current truck is that color and was hoping my next truck would be the same.
The “Rally” edition is just paint and stickers. How about some real content behind that flashy exterior, maybe better shocks and increased ride height?
Don’t forget the black rims! 😉
But keep in mind that the Rally edition is meant to mimic the street truck, so making it sit higher doesn’t really make sense. Personally, I would love to see the Rally Edition bring a sportier suspension though.
Rally has always been an appearance package from Chevy. Something with the word sport in it is what I think what we’re looking for.
As a Car, and Truck Guy since birth 🙂 who remembers, the excitement, of Chevy, and GMC Inovations, and Limited Editions…I would love to see, a true ‘Professional Grade’ GMC Special Edition, that Includes the shifter, in the Console, more real wood trim, Bucket seats, trimmed out, in a similar fashion, ( in lightccolered, high quality leather) to the High Country, or King Ranch, the Chrome 20 inch rims, as Standard equipment, with the 6.2 Litre V-8, and Tuned Borla Exhaust, in Double Cab Only…Possibly inimited Color Choices, including Fire Red, White Diamond, a dark metallic blue, and Black ;-). This is what I would love to Order, when I go to my GMC Dealer, next month…a true Rancher’s / or Executive’s Factory Sport Truck. Thanks for listening, DVB 47 in Nevada
When can we expect the 2015 models to start showing up at dealers?
Give or take a month and a half or so.
Chris, when will we be able to place an order at a dealer? Also, how soon until we know the mpgs on the new 6.2 8 speed?
Thanks!
Bought a 2014 WT reg cab standard box 2wd in July. Have convenience package. Agree, Rally should be lowered with sportier suspension. Six cylinder getting almost 21mpg in town. Unfortunately, radio reception on FM is horrible. In shop for 2 days trying to figure out problem. Anyone else have this trouble?
The 8 speed is only available on the 6.2 engine, as is it’s only equipped with a new 3.23 rear end. Probably won’t see it until early next year.
As a GM guy since birth I’m always excited to see new models come out. I like the new trucks and especially the SUVs GM has intruduced, but I don’t see the true heart felt design and innovation in the trucks that ford has brought with the F150 and Rapture and the bar raises even higher with new 2015 F150 coming soon. GM has the capability to make us proud by creating the highest quality and most innovative trucks people want. I’m afraid that until GM truly realizes this they will have to accept #2 position and so will we. Take a real close look at fords towing, performance, design, luxury, etc. and ask yourself which is the best truck. It’s hard to see ford making a better truck these days. I wish GM would somehow get fords designers to jump ship over to the general.
2015 Silverado, none bose system. Speakers are very poor, cannot hold full volume with crackling and rattling. Dealer state that system is not designed to hold full volume of radio. What
