The 2015 Corvette Z06 is anticipated to take the vehicle nameplate to new levels of performance, power, technology and overall refinement compared to the old model. But it’s also heavier than the old model. According to the official dealer order guide, the 650 horsepower, 650 pound-foot 2015 Corvette Z06 Coupe will come in at 3,524 lbs while the Z06 Convertible comes in at 3,582 lbs.
To compare to the outgoing Z06, the new one is 349 lbs heavier than before. It’s also heavier than the outgoing ZR1 by 191 lbs. The new Z06 Convertible can best be compared to the 427 Convertible, and it’s 227 lbs heavier. Will it all even matter? Not really. Remember, raw Corvette Z06 prototypes reset the Milford Road Course lap record and they were far from fully calibrated.

A little heavy weight, 1598 kg

No-one should be surprised by this. The C7 Z06 is chock full of extra tech, a supercharger and it’s supporting intercooler plumbing, plus bigger brakes, heavy duty axles, and etc. Never-mind all the luxury B.S.
This is no longer the ‘track special’ previous Z06 Vettes were. It’s for all intents and purposes the new ZR1. Plus the common C7 – off which this car is based – gained weight over the C6 as well. It makes no sense that a beefier C7 such as the Z06 would be lighter.
Same weight as a 2015 Mustang V6. Not bad for a car with 660hp!
I think I arrived a little,
Working on my Z06 desired options list … order date can’t be far behind. 🙂
