2015 Chevy Impala Does Away With Eco Model, Gains Stop-Start, New Colors

Not only did the 2014 Chevy Impala mark the introduction of an all-new model, it also commemorated the tenth generation of the iconic Impala nameplate. And for the 2015 model year, Chevy is giving its full-size flagship sedan a few updates and changes.

The changes start on the outside, with the White Diamond Tricoat, Blue Topaz Metallic, and Blue Ray Metallic exterior colors being deleted. In their stead are four new hues — Iridescent Pearl Tricoat, Blue Velvet Metallic, Autumn Bronze Metallic, and Rainforest Green. In addition, the Eco “mild hybrid” model is discontinued for 2015, as the base 2.5-liter I4 engine gains Stop-Start technology. In addition, the ability to delete SiriusXM Satellite Radio and the OnStar telematics system are no longer available.

On the new features front, the 2015 Impala adds OnStar Generation 10 Hardware with 4G LTE and Wi-Fi hotspot capability, an air conditioning system with a humidity sensor, and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) models in 2FL and 3LT equipment groups. What’s more, the 6-speed MH7 automatic transmission installed on the 2014 Impala is being replaced with a 6-speed MHG unit, about which we’ve yet to discover much information.

        1. Your generational timeline doesn’t differentiate between the first- and second-gen properly. It should be:

          1st gen: 1958 – 1959
          2nd gen: 1959 – 1960
          3rd gen: 1961 – 1964

The second-gen received some major changes over the first, with GM itself considering it to be an all-new generation. The same goes for the jump from second to third generation.

It’s really tough, but I will refrain from retorting your “GET A CLUE” remark.

  2. I’m curious about why HD radio was taken out. Also, I hope Apple’s CarPlay makes it in very soon either as an update via OnStar/MyLink or included with the 2016 model year at the latest.

One thing I noticed when building one online via Chevy’s site is that on the 2LTZ trim, the sunroof is no longer standard and costs around $1,050 for those who want it (me). Some of the trims did decrease in price as well.

    1. You’re right for the sunroof but when fully loaded the MSRP of the 2015 model is slightly less expensive.
What is strange though, is that it seems you can afford it with the comfort and convenient package on a 1LTZ for $ 1,035 (mentioned in the description) but not on a 2LTZ … weird or irritating depending on your mood !

  3. As FAR AS My link I have found that there is little support FROM GM or anyone else in regards to updating the brain for the radio. It seems that there are only purchases that are available at a cost to a screw up program.
