2014 Corvette Stingray Takes On A Ducati Diavel At The Dragstrip: Video

Cycle World Magazine has a new three-part video series where they pit the 2015 Ducati Diavel against other performance machines that may be able to give it a run for its money on the drag strip. Right from the get-go the Ducati has some stiff competition, because the first video in the series has it stacked up against a 2014 Corvette Stingray Convertible.

When it comes to short, quick sprints like a quarter-mile drag race, a bike will almost always has the advantage. Obviously motorcycles are much lighter and usually have the power-to-weight advantage, giving them the jump off the line, but the Diavel is producing 162 horsepower to the Corvette’s 460, which seems like a massive gap.

So is the Ducati really any match for the latest and greatest version America’s sportscar? Find out in the video below.

  1. I would hope Tommy Kendall could have gotten more out of the Stingray. Being a fan of the Corvette and knowing how well is performs, I still expected no less than the result we saw in this video. Not disappointed in the car at all just the professional driver of it. I hope no one was really expecting the Corvette to keep up with a Ducati of this type. One thing I can be positive of though. The Corvette can do this over and over again, then drive on a twisty road over and over again, and then get me to work and back over and over again for a hundred thousand miles with normal maintenance. Do all those things over and over again with the Ducati and you’ll have to keep a spare YZF at home, while the Ducati is in the shop. Nice bikes, but horrific reliability and very high cost to maintain.

  2. It is simple physics. HP/lb weight will win every time if there is a sufficient contact patch for the tires. I don’t care who was driving he had no chance against the crotch rocket.

  3. Proves what we cyclist have always known… A cycle is a cheap way to go faster, in a relatively short distance, than any “cage” out there.

In another words… a motor cycle is a cheap thrill.

  4. if any one expected any other outcomes then you are stupid. bikes weigh 300 lbs corvette 3400 lbs. most superbikes or even normal bikes are faster in 1/4 mile / 0-60 then mclarens ,ferraris, and corvettes hell even bugattis.

but if you have ever been on a high performance bike you would know that after 100 mph the corvette / performance car would fly away from him in 1/2 mile.
