On July 27, 2014, Muncie Dragway in Albany, Ind. held a record-breaking quarter-mile run, as one F-body Chevrolet Camaro became the the quickest six-speed manual General Motors car in the world when it managed a to scoot through the quarter-mile in 8.63 seconds at 158 mph. The previous record holder managed the run in 8.69 seconds, according to the Camaro’s owner.
Filmed by 1320video, the below footage provides a little background on the car. Still sporting its power windows, the owner tells the YouTube channel that the Camaro makes approximately 1,100-horsepower from a boosted 6.0-liter V8 truck engine. An RPM T56 six-speed manual transmission puts all that power to the ground.
Watch below as the Camaro takes on (and smokes) the world’s quickest ZR1 Corvette courtesy of a hearty dose of clutch dump and some quick shifting.
Brand specific world record? That seems…a bit pointless.
So I can just buy any car, upgrade it, make sure its the fastest of that specific brand and break a world record?
Too bad, there is a Ford Mustang (Fox body) that holds the real record for fastest manual transmission quarter mile…
You must not be paying attention to all the articles that pass as “look at this ebay find for $100k”… that NEVER SELL.
I don’t see why this is so hard for you to comprehend.
