Yeah, yeah, sure. What’s the news about this? After all, billionaires buying new cars is nothing out of the ordinary. But this isn’t just any billionaire. Moreover, the man’s surprisingly frugal about assets such as automobiles. Yet Warren Buffett is the proud owner of a new Cadillac XTS.
The CEO of Berkshire Hathaway recently rid himself of his trusty 2006 Cadillac DTS after General Motors CEO Mary Barra convinced him it was time to replace the eight-year-old car, despite the fact it only had 19,000 miles on it, reports Forbes.
Buffett says Barra told him “about 50 things that were better” about the latest Cadillac models compared to his aging DTS. “She sold me,” Buffett told Forbes.
But Barra didn’t originally suggest Buffett drive off in an XTS. The head of General Motors thought a new CTS was the right car for Buffett; however, when Buffett sent his daughter down to Huber Cadillac in Omaha on his behalf (Buffett was worried that as the world’s third-richest man he, “might not get a good price”), the saleswoman convinced Buffett’s daughter, Susan, that the XTS may be a better choice for her 83-year-old father. In the end the Buffetts agreed, and they drove home in Cadillac’s take on the Epsilon II platform.
And what about the old DTS? Forbes reports that Buffett chose not to trade the car in and instead donated it to Girls, Inc., “a charitable organization for girls.”

There is a market for a large front wheel drive Cadillac? Say it is not so.
That dealer saleslady should have sent him to a Buick dealer. 😉
No need to panic, they’ve only sold the one.
I hope the CUE system doesn’t make Mr. Buffet reconsider his purchase. XD
He should like this Caddy. By the way, what model did he purchase? The base, Platinum; V-Sport?
Anyone else confused as to why the CEO of one of the largest shareholders (Berkshire Hathaway) of General Motors bought an XTS? So weird. Wonder if next week Bloomberg will be reporting Berkshire buying back some of the GM stock it sold at the beginning of the summer. Or likely they will wait until GM announces a dismal quarterly earnings report due to recall costs.
Mary should have sold him a Volt or an ERL
You meant the Cadillac ELR.
