This Hennessey Chevrolet SS HPE600 Is A Steal At $54,950: eBay Find

With 4,500 miles on its odometer and a Buy-it-Now price of $54,950, those of us who see the glass as half-empty will look at this Hennessey Chevrolet SS HPE600 for sale on eBay as nothing more than a used car costing some $10,000 more than a new SS; however, those of us who see the glass as half-full will see this Hennessey SS (with 185 additional horsepower over its stock counterpart) as a true steal at only some $10,000 more than a new SS.

Consider us to be in the latter camp, because watching this pup shred through the quarter-mile in a smidge over 11.8 seconds sends our hearts aflutter.

As the kit’s name implies, Hennessey’s HPE600 Chevrolet SS makes a fat 600 horsepower at 6,300 RPM courtesy of a TVS2300 supercharger, as well as a custom Hennessey air intake, pulley and engine management system, not to mention a few other things.

This car is being sold by Hennessey itself out of its Sealy, Texas headquarters. It also happens to be the first HPE600 ever built, so there’s historical value in buying this machine as well. On the flip side, we’re 99.9 percent certain this is the same car that Hennessey used in the videos it produced to show the HPE600 running the quarter-mile and hitting its top speed.

While this car may have been driven hard, we doubt the pros at Hennessey would put it away wet. Trust us, if we had the money, we’d put it where our collective mouth is and buy the thing ourselves.

  1. GM does it again with a Holden styled vehicle. The GM faithful will buy them like they did with the Holden GTO, a design so bad it reminded me of car designs of 10 yrs ago when they came out. GM does this since their business model shows the blind faithful GM buyer will buying anything tagged GM and I know one. He even believes the current recalls aren’t as bad as they seem. My prediction is the SS will not sell just like the GTO. Once the faithful buy the pool of blind shoppers will dry up and they will sit with dust on dealers lots. Why doesn’t GM get a designer like Kia did from Audi. The 2011 Kia Optima SX Turbo is a timeless design after 3 years it still retains a new car image. This is one vehicle that will be very hard to re design.
