This 1968 Camaro Z/28 Has Nice Mix Of Racing And Comfort Options

While Chevrolet may have built the Camaro Z/28 as a means to take its pony car racing in the SCCA’s Trans-Am series, it’s clear the original owner of this particular 1968 Camaro Z/28 bought this car to enjoy on the streets. Complete with power steering and brakes, as well as an AM radio, rear speaker, and full-length center console, this Z/28 has all the important luxuries of the time.

Available at Mecum’s Harrisburg auction, which runs from July 24-27, this Z/28 is equipped with the RS package car, but what sets it apart from other Z/28s are the following:

  • 4.56 gears
  • Houndstooth interior
  • Cowl plenum
  • Mid-year British Green color
  • Protect-O-Plate, original window sticker, dealer invoice. and sales order

Of course, being a Z/28, power comes from a 302 small-block with an underrated 290 horsepower shifted by a 4-speed manual (this one being the M21 close-ratio). With a nice mix of racing and spiffy options, this Z/28 is bound to make some Chevy guy happy.
