Many of you may recognize this custom Pro Street 1960 Chevy Impala on eBay. Known as “Pro Box,” the Impala earned the title of Grand Champion at the 1990 Street Machine Nationals, Hot Rod’s 1990 Car of the Year, and has appeared between the covers of Car Craft, Super Chevy, Popular Hot Rodding. In 2008, it was named Hot Rod’s #52 of 100 most influential hot rods of all time. And it was one of the cars that launched Troy Trepanier‘s (“Rad Rides by Troy”) career. Sounds significant, right?
Yet there may be a lull in recognition. Up until six years ago, the Impala was hidden away in a private collection somewhere in the southwest. After eighteen years of confinement, it was in need of a bit of TLC, so its current owner had the induction system that had been swapped in removed and replaced with the original fuel injection with all work done by Troy Trepanier and the craftsmen at Rad Rides. New brakes, suspension bushings, and shocks were also installed. The Impala was then repainted and the weather stripping was replaced, along with a few other odds and ends.
Following its restoration, the Impala has seen less than fifty miles of blacktop (landing it at 1,960 miles total) and remains in perfect condition, as per the current owner, who is apparently selling it due to “time constraints.”
It’ll only cost you $99,000 to add the Impala to your garage – that’s not a lot of scratch for #52.
