In one of the stranger engine transplants we’ve seen, a seller in northeast Connecticut is peddling a diesel-powered 1974 Corvette on Craigslist. With no irony, the seller states, “This is a one-of-a-kind project car.” It’s been his daily driver for the past three years “and has treated [him] well, but it’s time to move on.” In other words, it “needs someone with more patience than me to finish the cosmetic work.” Because it does.
Patience possibly may be needed to follow a car like this on the street, although this ain’t no 1980 Rabbit diesel. To wit:
- 2002 Volkswagen Diesel Engine
- Toyota truck 5-speed transmission
- Acme Adapters adapter plate to put them together
With new tires and up to 55+ mpg, this diesel Corvette “is a blast to drive!” Or so claims the owner. With over $12,000 invested, the $6,000 asking price is quite reasonable.Â
Right?
