While OnStar provides users with a large range of benefits, it only reaches customers across the U.S. and China. But it has been made official that the telematics service, along with the now-rolling-out 4G LTE feature, will enter the European market via Opel and Vauxhall in 2015. This plan remains on track.
According to GM Europe President Dr. Karl-Thomas Neumann in an Auto Express report, OnStar will be available throughout the entire Vauxhall and Opel lineup. “We will bring it to every car in Europe,” stated Neumann. “Even the cheapest models will have it as an option and as much as possible we will make it standard.”
Not only will OnStar provide Vauxhall and Opel customers the ability to reduce insurance costs, but it’s expected to create jobs within Vauxhall’s headquarters in Luton (U.K.). Those new jobs will be necessary as OnStar’s 6.5 million-and-counting customer base continues to grow.
