Manchester United will wear its new Chevrolet-sponsored shirt for the first time during its match against the Los Angeles Galaxy of Major League Soccer this Wednesday at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA. In celebration of the inaugural match, Chevrolet will be offering a free live stream for fans around the world to see the two teams go head to head.
“Seeing our partnership with Manchester United come to life in a match is a huge moment for the brand and we want to share it with the club’s 659 million followers around the world,” Paul Edwards, U.S. vice president for Chevrolet Marketing. “The free livestream is just one example of how Chevrolet will use this partnership and our ‘What Do You #PlayFor?’ campaign to bring fans closer to this great sport and help them celebrate the passion for play.”
Chevrolet kicked off its seven-year, $600 million shirt sponsorship deal with Manchester United on July 7 by inviting fans to upload photos of themselves wearing a digital version of the shirt at www.ChevroletFC.com and share it on social media. Celebrations in the name of the new shirts will continue over the course of the next month. On August 2, Chevrolet will serve as the headline sponsor of Manchester United’s first-ever match in Michigan at the University of Michigan’s ‘Big House’ stadium. The automaker also said it is planning a “memorable moment” for fans at Manchester United’s 2014-15 opening season opener on Aug. 16 at Old Trafford against Swansea City FC.
