General Motors South Africa (GMSA) launched the Isuzu Trailview in 2013, and has since earned accolades for its interactive tool that enables off-roaders to preview trails online before tackling the trail. Off-road trails in South Africa have been mapped and can now be viewed by enthusiasts thanks to the help of an Isuzu KB 300 Extended Cab 4×4 equipped with a 3600-degree camera.
For 2014, the Isuzu Trailview portal has received new enhancements that include full integration into the www.isuzu.co.za website, the ability to cover mountain bike trails, camping reviews, braai (grilling) recipes, must-have gadgets, and more. The tool also gives users a 360-degree view to get a clear view of the entire trail. Viewing elevation changes, exploring the environment, and jumping ahead to any point on the map have been integrated into the tool.
The refreshed Isuzu Trailview also allows off-road fanatics to embed trail runs on their own websites, just like embedding a YouTube video. They can even access the hands-on tool through their smartphones.
Currently there’s no word if and when the Trailview tool will end up in an American vehicle, but GM Authority will be sure to let you know the moment when we find out.
