Hemi-Powered 1957 Chevy – The Ultimate Revenge: Video

For years, Brand Xers have had to deal with the indignity of having a small-block or big-block Chevy stuffed between the wheel wells of hot rods. However, here we have the ultimate revenge – a Chevy with a Mopar motor.

Truth be told, shoving a Hemi in another car is nothing new (at least in another era), but you don’t see that much today, which is why this 1957 Chevrolet drag car is so interesting . . . okay, it’s hardly a Chevy in some respects – more of a shell of one – but Randy Adler’s blown 521ci Hemi ProMod Bel Air was recently caught during a Friday night “Test’n Tune” at Gateway Motorsports Park in metro St. Louis.

We don’t know how much faster this Chevy will go after it’s sorted out, but while its ET of 6.04 @ 237.55 mph is impressive, compare it to HOT ROD Drag Week 2013 winner Tom Bailey, whose fastest time was 6.709 in a street-legal Camaro (again, more of a shell of one), albeit one with a proper Chevy engine.

  1. Not really a Mopar engine. Hemi headed engines have been built buy others and these engines contain no Mopar parts. These are custom made race engines.

It is no different than the rear control arms on a NASCAR being called truck arms because they originally were bases on Chevy truck Control arms. the Floor pan is bases on a Ford and the front steering is bases on a Chevelle. All may be based but they all are fabricated parts or aftermarket racing parts.

This story is a little misleading. There are Hemi heads aftermarket for even Chevy Big Blocks out there.

This is not even really a 57 Chevy either.
