Thirty-three years ago, George Talley’s 1979 Corvette was stolen on Jefferson Avenue in Detroit, Mich. Today he was reunited with it.
Talley, a Corvette fan since boyhood, has been fortunate to have owned three more Corvettes since, but for some reason the long-lost C3 remained the ‘Vette he treasured most.
He was informed on June 13 that the car had been recovered in Hattiesburg, Miss. The recovered Corvette currently has 47,000 miles and in “running condition.”
Fortunately for Talley, General Motors executive Mark Reuss saw the fuss in the media and offered to bring the Corvette back to the Motor City so its original owner could enjoy it again.
“As a longtime Corvette owner myself, I know the passion the car inspires. I also knew that car belonged home in Detroit, with its rightful owner, and we could make that happen,” Reuss said in a press release.
