Chevrolet has announced the launch of the new Spark ‘Byte’ in Mexico, a special edition version of the subcompact car based on the LTZ trim line.
The Spark Byte offers model exclusive red or green exterior decals with the choice of either a white or black exterior paint finish. White models can only have the decals and accents in Green, while black cars may been optioned with either red or green accents and decals. The Byte also comes with standard body color side skirts, a chrome exhaust tip, 14-inch aluminium wheels and fog lamps with chrome inserts.
Inside, the Byte features either a red or green instrument panel and door inserts depending on the color of the exterior decals, dark gray seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and a CD player with MP3 Auxilary, Bluetooth and USB inputs.
Apart from the small cosmetic changes, the Spark Byte remains virtually unchanged from the standard LTZ Spark sold in Mexico. That means it gets a 1.2-liter four cylinder engine producing 81 horsepower and 80 lb-ft of torque along with a 5-speed manual transmission.
The big news surrounding the Spark Byte is the launch of ‘#SparkMyByte’, a smartphone application which measures the level of influence the user has on Twitter. The app will rate your social media performance based on how many followers you have and allows users to share their tweets with all of Mexico. If you tweet using the app, Chevrolet Mexico may retweet your message “so that may have more scope and get more followers.” The app is part of the launch campaign for the Spark Byte.
