Last week Buick released a teaser image showing the next addition to their portfolio in China, the Envision, hiding under a sheet while sandwiched between the subcompact Encore and full-size Enclave. While that image did come along with an announcement confirming the Envision’s arrival, it didn’t show us much in the way of what the car will look like.
Car News China recently spotted an Envision prototype undergoing testing in China, and the images give us a good idea of what the Envision will look like when it’s unveiled at the Chengdu Auto Show in September. Buick’s waterfall grille can be seen on the prototype, while the exposed sides show doors with a high beltline and sharp body lines.
According to Car News China, the Envision will ride on General Motors’ Delta platform and will be powered by a 2.0-liter SIDI turbocharged engine and a 2.4-liter SIDI four-cylinder mated to a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic. Prices should start at around 160,000 yuan ($25,779 USD) and reach 220,000 yuan ($35,447) when it goes on sale in fourth quarter of this year.

Is this coming here? I think it would sell great. With the Nox going smaller this might be nice. I hope it comes to America
This vehicle has also been spotted here in the US undergoing testing. However, GM is being tight lipped about wether or not it is going to be released here. From what I understand, Chevy Equinox and GMC Terrain will be built on the same frame and with the same engine. I hope Buick releases this vehicle here. I think it would do great here. I bought the Encore as well and love the vehicle. I would likely buy the Envision to replace my wife’s Terrain. I think it offers luxury without having to step up all the way to a Cadillac.
With the recent news the Terrain and Equinox are only getting tweeked for 2015 and the revisions likely coming in 2016, I see the Envision being released in the US for the 2016 MY. If GM is not going to unveil it until September, I can’t see it being released for the 2015 MY. I believe the Envision and the completely revamped Terrain/Equinox will all be showing up at the same time here in the US (2016MY) and that will be Aug/Sept 2105.
I am one that also hopes they bring this here. I think it has the right size because I find the Enclave to be too big for my tastes. Give me the 2.0 liter turbo and AWD.
Buick makes great concept cars. Had the Envision styling remained, as opposed to a watered down version, it would have been a game changerfor the tri-shield.
Buick must make a radical statement in NA and such a vehicle would greatly benefit Opel.
GM could grow if they took risks.
You said the word Concept. That is the big changer in this and is why they model changes. Much too often the show concept is not going to meet market regulations or ergonomic demands of the market.
Many cars that have gone from concept to street car suffer many issues if not corrected.
Concepts have their issues and are not generally watered down for fun only to meet regulations, predictability standards and ergonomics. Most Concepts are not built to the state of production and all would fall short in some areas. Elmirage right now is suffering from this as GM is looking for a way to do the coupe and do it to a high standard with little change.
If they used the Voltec on this right now the miles would fall far short of the 45 MPG that you claim.
The first electric CUV we may see would fall to a model made just for this system as they will have to do some major changes to make it work right. We will see one but just not in this vehicle.
The less weight and addition of a turbo 4 may get this vehicle to 35 MPG this time around.
There are just some cold realities that need to be understood here as to not get disappointed. GM would love to have a show vehicle offered with 45 MPG but the realizes of the market, economics and physics always get in the way.
Make it on the voltec platform and give me 45mpg hwy and it will be out of the park!
