Buick Announces New Envision Midsize SUV For China

Get ready to meet the Envision — Buick’s latest vehicle. Slotting between the subcompact Encore and full-size Enclave, the upcoming crossover will make its debut in China later this year.

Inspired by the Envision concept from 2011, the production version “has dynamic and assertive styling” that “fuses iconic Buick design cues with the brand’s new high-end, refined global design concepts.”

Though draped in cloth in the teaser photo, we get an idea of how the crossover will look by the outline of the SUV’s headlights and trademark waterfall grille. Like the design, Buick is keeping most everything else under wraps until the vehicle’s formal debut.

What we do know is that the Envision is expected to sell in America, most likely under the same Envision nameplate, even though some reports have pegged the name to be Anthem. The CUV will ride on GM’s new D2XX vehicle architecture as the next-gen Chevrolet Equinox, and is expected to be compact in size, although “tweener” dimension (between compact and midsize, like the second-gen Equinox) are possible as well. The Envision will use a new-generation powertrain with standard Start-Stop technology, as well as a new all-wheel-drive system.

Of course, when we know more, GM Authority will be here to bring you all the details.

  2. Well folks here is a hint at the size of the new Nox.

It could vary a little but this should give you an idea compared to the others

  3. The grille looks very Opel-like by its outline and by the brand logo placed in a horizontal bar on the top of the grille.

So I think the next generation Opel/Vauxhall Antara does not need much changes for the sheet metal presses.

  4. Agreed there. I think we are seeing the next Nox and Antara. I would expect the GMC Terrain to be get boxier skin.
