It’s isn’t too hard to bump your modern-day Corvette up to 815 horsepower. Whether you choose a turbocharger or supercharger, adding a bit of boost to the Corvette’s V8 can easily result in power figures reaching above and beyond 700 ponies. But if you want the irresistibly cool retro styling of an old Corvette with the easily attainable performance of the modern day car, the only place to turn is a Resto Mod.
If you’re in the market for a retro ‘Vette with modern day performance, you’re in luck. RK Motors in Charlotte, NC currently has this staggering LS7-powered 1967 mid-year Corvette for sale on eBay. Before it received its contemporary components, the ‘Vette was completely disassembled and carefully restored. The body is now razor straight, RK Motors says, and was sufficiently prepped before the PPG Super Jet Black paint you see before you was applied.
Resting under the Stinger Hood is a 7.0-liter LS7 V8 topped off with a Magnussen blower, making it good for an incredible 815 horsepower. The engine also boasts forged internals, free-flowing heads, Mast Motorsports plug wires and ceramic coated headers connect to two large-diameter side-exit exhaust pipes. The motor is hooked up to a Tremec T56 six-speed manual transmission, which RK Motors says was sourced from a Dodge Viper.
Underneathe, this ’67 Vette is rolling on a custom Street Shop Chassis with the suspension system from a C4 Corvette, which has been garnished with a 1-inch sway bar, new urethane bushings and new coilovers. The car has modern power steering, which were sure helps it through the turns, but we have to say, those small, non-vented brakes pictured on the car don’t look up to the task of bringing an 815 horsepower Corvette to a stop.
Apart from the questionable brake setup, RK Motors’ Corvette is sporting Billet Specialties wheels shod in Falken Ziex ZE-912 tires measuring 225/50R18 in the front and 245/60R18 in the rear. Inside, occupants will be greeted by a custom, hand-stitched leather interior with heavily-modified bucket seats from a C6-generation Z06 Corvette. The modern touches continue with a Custom Autosound CD deck and a Billet specialities steering wheel.
