For a while it looked like Ford had a stranglehold on the high performance off-road truck market with the SVT Raptor. Fortunately the free market breeds competition, and though Chevrolet doesn’t make a direct competitor to the Raptor, tuning company Lingenfelter teamed up with Southern Comfort Automotive to pick up Chevy’s slack.
Starting with a common Chevrolet Silverado, Lingenfelter plops a supercharger on top of the truck’s V8 engine, then Southern Comfort Automotive steps in and adds off-road ready chassis components like Fox Racing shocks, along with distinct bodywork. The completed package is known as the Reaper.
And now a Reaper is available on Ebay with a “Buy It Now” price of $79,800. Located in Homosassa, Fla. this Reaper is claimed to be the 44th built and is said to sport 33 miles on its odometer. Armed with the base 5.3-liter V8, this black beast pumps 475-horsepower from its supercharged heart (the available 6.2-liter supercharged engine packs a 550-horsepower wallop).
With 9.2 inches of wheel travel up front and 11.2 inches out back, the Reaper arguably offers more performance than most people will ever need; however, if you feel you’re one of the people who does need this kind of machismo from a Silverado, now’s your chance to own one.
