Hit The Road This Summer In This 1976 GMC Motorhome: eBay Find

It’s pretty hard to find an old motorhome in decent condition. Many campers are taken cross-country by families and subjected to all sorts of things including harsh weather, long road trips and possibly worst of all, destructive children. That’s what makes this mint-condition 1976 GMC Motorhome currently for sale on eBay out of Florida a rare bird indeed.

According to the listing, this land yacht has never been restored or repainted and may just be the best kept 1976 GMC motorhome in existence. It’s only had two owners in all of its 38 years of service and has covered just 61,308 sun-soaked miles. Powering it is a 455 ci Oldsmobile V8 engine mated to a three-speed Turbo-Hydramatic automatic transmission driving the front wheels. It’s also got floaty, self-levelling airbag suspension at the rear to ensure the ride stays as relaxed as you are while en route to your camping destination.

The best part about this GMC is its unmistakably 70s exterior and interior design. That huge body is painted in a yellowish beige finish, which is accented by green stripes and text reading ‘Palm Beach’ in some retro-style font. Inside, the blast from the past continues with green shag carpet, plaid upholstery, green captain’s chairs that look like they belong on the set of That 70s Show and wood cabinets.

The bidding for this immaculate GMC Motorhome currently sits at $21,000 after 8 bids. The auction ends on June 20, so you still have a chance to jump on this rare opportunity before there are no camping days left in the summer. 1. When I was a kid my older brother had the toy version of this. It was a Hess model and the coolest thing for us was that the door opened. Just seeing this brings back a lot of memories of that “Hess van” as well called it. Strange enough, I didn’t know these were front drive. Interesting indeed.

  2. I had the fortunate pleasure to drive one of these vehicles back in the day. It belonged to a friend of mine and it was the coolest experience and I have always harboured a secret desire to own one. Still do, but I am now not able to consider the pleasure. Darn.

  3. When I worked as a sales person at Orson E Coe Pontiac-GMC we had one just like this one on the showroom floor. The showroom was at one time the largest in the mid west.

  5. Sweet looking GMC Motorhome. I’ve always liked the shape of the body. It’s more attractive than most motorhomes of the 1970s. If I could afford it, I’d buy a 1975 GMC Motorhome and perhaps have a 6.5 litre turbo diesel engine installed. Or even a Duramax 6.6 litre turbo diesel engine. I would think it’d get better fuel economy than the Oldsmobile 445 cu. in. (7.5 litre) gasoline engine it came with.

  6. As 40 yr old RVs go, this is perhaps the best looking I’ve ever seen. It’s nice to see one that hasn’t been heavily modified, beat up, or otherwise abused in any way. But a nice original survivor.

  7. Hi My Name is Heather… I’ve lived a long hard troubled life & all I ever wanted was to travel & be a Mom…. Well… I was a little blessed with both… My six yr old son was killed in front of me & my daughter angel and I’ve been lost without him since. My daughter’s name is Angel because, I died while they took her out of me & saw her 6 hours later. My Dad was killed on my daughter’s birthday.. I’ve lost many friends a long the way.. I’ve worked very hard & I had my family con all my money away from Me because, I’m slightly autistic. I don’t feel I’ve had a fair chance in this life yet & I’ve searched far & wide for a vintage motorhome like this one to call “My Home”❤ I could only Dream of someone getting this for me because, I would live in it & Cherish it For the rest of My Entire Life!!! I have cancer. I’m not longer wanting treatment. I’m trying all natural remedies…. This Would be a Dream Come True. I have no FAM or friends .. I have My 18 yr old Daughter… She’s on her own now & I’d work really extra hard spending my time paying back The Fortunate Good Sole who could Make this Dream Home a Reality for Me…. 😊 God Bless 🥰

  9. Lovely looking RV. It’s a shame that the GMC Motorhome was discontinued when it was. I find it more attractive than what’s offered today.
