Gratuitous C7 Corvette Stingray Burnout: Video

Who doesn’t like a good ol’-fashioned burnout? [crickets…] That’s what I thought! Burnouts are about as American as basketball, step-mom, and Shoo-fly Pie. Alas, burnouts are a double-edged sword, as it’s easy to fall into the trap of “that dork with the fast car showing off.” But we’ll be happy to give this Corvette Stingray owner all the passes he needs.

GM Authority found this YouTube video expertly shot by Bad Bowtie Productions, which should keep the Chevrolet faithful distracted for hours. Not a Chevy guy or gal? We think you’ll find it entertaining too—who isn’t interested in displays of power by the latest iteration of America’s Sports Car?

Gotta love any burnout, but my favourites are from a dead stop, no front brake, give er all she’s got and see how far she’ll dance!

I come from an era where any dork in his mom’s impala and posi could do a smoky burn out.

To me when I see tire spin I see lost performance.. No matter if you are drag racing or road racing wheel spin is lost performance.

My buddy with a 9 second street car taught me years ago one thing. I asked why his car was so fast and had no big tires or tubs on it. He hammered it and said what did you hear. I told him I heard a Chirp in second gear and third gear. He said that is his secret. The suspension was set up to hook up and not let the car spin. For every rotation they spin he was moving forward against them.

Today my little FWD Turbo is great but with the weight transfer it is hard to hook up. I have seen the traction control light come on at over 50 MPH.

I am not going to say that I have never done burn outs and that from time to time I may hammer it just to send a message but I got over it for the most part unless I am at the track., Even most slicks today do not need more than a spin to clean them.

That is just me. Besides tires are not cheap anymore.

FYI if you to post things like this on the web make sure they are untraceable as companies do check some of these out and will void a warranty if you come in.

        Sorry

I like winning the race more than just blowing smoke.

        Winning pays better!
