The Problem: General Motors has found reason to recall approximately 3,360,555 vehicles, most of which are no longer in production, because the vehicles’ “ignition switch may inadvertently move out of the ‘run’ position if the key is carrying extra weight and experiences some jarring event.” See: Chevrolet Cobalt and Chevrolet Camaro if you haven’t heard of this before.
Vehicles Affected:
Buick Lacrosse MY 2005-2009
Chevrolet Impala MY 2006-2014
Cadillac Deville MY 2000–2005
Cadillac DTS MY 2004–2011
Buick Lucerne MY 2006–2011
Buick Regal LS & GS MY 2004–2005
Chevy Monte Carlo MY 2006–2008
Number Of Vehicles Being Recalled: 3,160,725 in the United States alone. 3,360,555 vehicles when including vehicles sold in Canada, Mexico and outside North America.
The Fix: Owners need to visit GM dealerships so they can “rework of the keys” by “adding key inserts” in the next few weeks. Until the rework or replacement is completed, owners of the recalled cars are urged to remove additional weight from their key chains and drive with only the ignition key.
Another recall….Face palm.
Mostly W-body? but no Pontiac Grand Prix?
I’m telling ya; best cars ever! Such a shame GM didn’t decide to redesign the Grand Prix and Bonneville..
I own a 2007 Grand Prix GXP! Don’t sell for nothing!
Keep the regular maintenance and you’ll be trouble free.
Next will be the 1963 Corvette, cause you know that split window obscures rear vision.
