General Motors Recalling Every Fifth-Generation Chevrolet Camaro Ever Built

It seems that all fifth Generation Chevrolet Camaro owners will be instructed to visit their local dealerships because of an issue stemming from, rather sensitively, an ignition switch issue.
The Problem: A driver’s knee can bump the key FOB and cause the key to inadvertently move out of the “run” position, with a corresponding reduction or loss of power. The issue was discovered by GM during internal testing following the ignition switch recall earlier this year. It is the reason for at least three crashes that resulted in four minor injuries.
Vehicles Affected: If your Camaro is built from the 2010 model year onward, this pertains to you. Including Canadian and Mexican market Camaros. All Gen. 5 Camaros. All of them.
Number Of Vehicles Being Recalled: Approximately 511,528 Chevrolet Camaros, including the new 2014 Z/28.
The Fix: Dealers will change the Camaro key to a standard design from one in which the key is concealed in the FOB and is opened by pushing a button. The change will make the ignition key and FOB independent of each other, so that inadvertent contact with the FOB won’t move the key from the “run” position.

I bought my Camaro on June 20th and can’t take it home…Man this is so frustrating…Im in a Chevy Cruz but it does save on gas…..screaming “I WANT MY CAMARO!!” LOL
I purchased my Camaro on the recall week as well and they did give me the key I guess to torture me! I always dreamed of getting my dream car and take it home and GM just had to kill it.
Does anyone have an estimate of how long will this take ?
I am 6’6″ and my knee’s normal position is not far from the normal position. I have twice turned the car off while driving due to leg motion. I am happy to see the recall and will get a new key set when available.
I picked my car up on June 28th. I absolutely love it! It was worth the wait!!!!
I have a 2014 Camero SS Took my car to Dealer for a Oil change. they said oh we will take care of the recall while it is here. Ok Why not right? They failed to tell me that they were going to take apart my FOB hand me back a rigged up mess. I have a $35,000 car and this is your answer. Really I was not a happy camper. I think a ploy to get me to trade in my car.

I’m not sure if it’s mentioned anywhere here, but you can reject the recall and sign a waiver of liability. Just ask the dealership and they must provide the waiver to you
I had the recall performed on my 2013 SS but this does not solve to problem, only makes it less likely to occur. I am not happy about it. Mine has shut off three times, usually associated with a maneuver that might cause the key fab to swing or a slight bump from the knee. Mine most recently shut off while at the track, not a good time to have a shut down!
