Ever notice there aren’t many car shows during Mother’s Day? No, we’re not saying that women can’t be into cars—we know plenty—but many enthusiasts with XY chromosomes wouldn’t be able to attend a show on Mother’s Day because most mommies would prefer to do something else (duh!). Father’s Day, on the other hand, is the perfect day for having a car show. Detroit-area enthusiasts should consider going to Corvettes on the D on Saturday, June 14, the day before Father’s Day. It’s “your” weekend so why not?
Now in its second year, Corvettes on the D is run by Larry Courtney, who also organizes August’s Corvettes on Woodward food drive. Not only will you be able to see the creme de la creme of Corvettes from the metro area (and if you’re not from Detroit, let me tell you that D-Town has a car scene to rival SoCal, poor weather and all), but you’ll also have the opportunity to see the Corvette Racing Trailer. Guess what’s gonna be tagging along? An honest-to-goodness C7.R Corvette (drool….).
Also on display will be both the Atlantic and Pacific Corvettes, which were unveiled at SEMA last November. General Motors recently announced that these option packages will be available for the 2015 model year.
For the more technically inclined, Corvette experts Paul Koerner and Brittany George will be on hand with a seminar on how to repair and maintain your Corvette.
And, lastly, Andiamo Pizza Pie, Detroit’s favorite slab of bread, tomato, and cheese, will be serving slices if you serve them some bills. Deal?
Entry for Corvettes in the D is $10 with proceeds donated to the National Corvette Museum and the 2014 Michigan/Indiana/Western Kentucky Caravan.
Comments
Yeah, if somebody could give me money for a plain ticket that would be great.
I guess car shows are not even free anymore. Where SPECIFICALLY does the money go towards for museum and caravan? To get the cars out of hole and to pay for someone’s gas?
