Corvette Mishap At Chevrolet Ride And Drive

Manufacturers often perform “ride and drives” for consumers to get a taste of their offerings, giving consumers more of a promotional hands-on approach (and giving enthusiasts an opportunity to sample the wares). However, when you get the general public involved, you never know what’s going to happen. In this case, a C7 Corvette suffered severe front-end damage.

But lest you think a Corvette was in the hands of the wrong person, think again—it was an Impala that was the perpetrator. According to LSXtv.com, the Impala tester had “special needs” (hand controls, perhaps?) and, in the subsequent unfamiliarity, resulted in accidentally going in reverse and colliding with not one but two brand-new Stingrays.

There were no reports of injuries, with the driver “walking away” unscathed except for his/her pride. Wonder if these Stingrays will be on display with the sinkhole Corvettes?

  1. The Sales person at most dealers I have been to move the vehicle to be tested clear of other vehicles. At the least they should not have been near any new Corvetts.

  2. Old story.

She will sue them because she was not informed of the high performance nature of the car and should have been advised. You may think I am making a joke but I bet a lawyer will contact here about this.

A man bought a Ferrari when he made his first Million Dollars. He drove it off a cliff later that day and died. His family took Ferrari to Court to say he was not duly informed of the high performance nature of the car. True story.

It is idiots like this that kill it for the rest of us. GM used to let you autocross Z06 models here in Cleveland as hard as you could drive em. It is stuff like this that stops that practice.

  3. idk, it might be a stretch to call an Impala a high performance vehicle, but I’m sure lawyers will try anything.

  4. This happened again? Is this the same old story or a new one?

I just googled it. It from Oct 2013. Same cars in the picture.

I’m sure the article ran here too. Why is it repeating???

Prospective Customer Crashes 2014 Chevrolet Impala Into Row Of 2014 Corvette Stingrays

A 2014 Impala crashed into a row of three 2014 Corvettes at a Chevrolet Ride and Drive event at the Texas State Fair yesterday, proving once again, that some of us just can’t have nice things.

According to Jalopnik, the driver slammed the rear end of the new Impala into the row of parked Corvettes. A poster from Corvette forum says the event was held on a small test track, where the speed limit was supposed to be only 20 mph.

No more details on the crash are available at this time other than what’s seen in the photo. This is the second wreck involving a Velocity Yellow Corvette C7 in the past week.

  6. Recently I was working at a company in Roswell GA where GM was conducting a ride and drive event. I was dismayed at the disrespect the GM people demonstrated to the companies facility team during the event. GM complained loudly because they were required to move tents back into the originally requested parking lot area for the event. The company was experiencing problems with parking for employees and customers because GM went outside of the agreed area for the event. GM needs to understand, your vehicles are under the microscope but so are the reps of your company. I’ve worked with companies who have people such as your Roswell event reps and it is no fun. The experience I had with the GM reps at that event will definitely impact my vehicle decision making in the future. No more GM vehicles in my household. Believe me, I will also ensure my opinion of your company reps is known by friends. Your reps also impact the reputation of your entire company. They need to get along with people!
