Chevrolet Performance Vehicles Meet In Enemy Territory, With Surprisingly Large Turnout

While Chevrolet Camaros and Corvettes are most widely popular in their homeland, there remains an enthusiast following all over the world, even in the most hostile of pockets. Italy, for example. In a country home to Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Pagani, Bertone and Maserati, it’s practically treason to drive around a Chevrolet Performance vehicle. But it’s encouraging to know that there’s quite the rebellious following of Corvette and Camaro enthusiasts over there, as evident from the Corvette and Camaro Club of Italy’s meet-up at the Autodromo Di Modena circuit.

There was everything from C2 Corvette Convertibles, to highly modified fifth-generation Camaros and C6 Corvettes, including a ZR1, which is mythical on that side of the Atlantic. In fact, the scene was impressive enough to put plenty of the Chevrolet meets held over here in check. Come on, America! Get your stuff together.

  1. There are large pockets of American car fans in Europe. Now while GM struggles with car sales as daily drivers they are very popular with the hobby/specialty car market. I have many friends with American cars over there.

Hell a Camaro Driving Swede came over and won a NHRA pro stock race in NC a few weeks ago. He is now back in Sweden with his own Camaro pro Stock.

The sell out of the limited Mustang was no surprise and the Camaro would do the same over there once the 6th gen arrives.
